Also known as IndianOil, this Business Initiative Directions Award winner is the largest company in India, with an annual turnover of over USD $85 billion. It is the highest ranked Indian company on the Fortune Global 500, at number 83 on the list.
The state owned corporation is run by Chairman Shri R S Butola, who has implemented a particular focus on quality management by strengthening internal systems, optimising the supply chain and achieving zero process interruption. He is also turning the corporation into an innovator within India through E&P, nuclear an renewable energy.
Further to being a prototype of a financially successful business, IndianOil also views social responsibility as an integral part of the company and business process. One of the key players in the nation’s economy, IndianOil has played a central role in India’s exponential growth over recent years, bringing facilities to people and areas that were previously without such infrastructure.
Each year, IndianOil dedicates a fixed portion of its profits towards its community welfare and development program. The multi faceted approach includes the provision of LPG cooking facilities in rural villages for cleaner and safer cooking, the preservation and promotion of National Heritage sites, water purification and healthcare initiatives and various scholarship schemes.
IndianOil was awarded the International Star for Quality Award in 1999 in recognition of its commitment to constant improvement and customer service.
Additionally, overseas subsidiary IndianOil (Mauritius) Ltd, was awarded the Century International Quality ERA Award in Geneva in 2007.
