Operadora VIPS (Wal-Mart Central America) receive the International Quality Crown Award in London from Jose E. Prieto, President and CEO of Business Initiative Directions

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is the third largest public corporation in the world, according to the Fortune Global 500. It is currently also the world’s largest employer with over two million employees worldwide, as well as the world’s largest retailer.

Walmart has over 8,500 stores in 15 countries, under 55 different brand names, including Business Initiative Directions Award winner the Walmart Group of Mexico and Central America (WalMex).

In Mexico, WalMex is the country’s largest employer with a workforce of over 209,000 employees and estimated net income last year was USD $1.7 billion.

Twenty percent of the world’s Walmart stores are located in Mexico, and it is the biggest retailer in Latin America.The group operates several chains throughout the country, including Walmart, Superama, Suburbia, VIPS, Sam’s Club and Bodega Aurrerá.

In addition to regularly diversifying into new markets over the course of it’s history, WalMex is also notable for diversifying its service to further meet changing client needs and wants.

The company is a forerunner of more than one industry in Mexico, and has played a key role in the unprecedented growth of the nation’s economy over recent years

Thanks to its daily effort in achieving quality, innovation and leadership, Restaurantes Vips was awarded the prestigious International Quality Crown Award in London, 2010.

Vips is not only the largest restaurant chain in Mexico, but has also managed to export their idea and gain unprecedented success in Madrid, Spain.

During the award ceremony, Business Initiative Directions’ President, Jose E. Prieto, pointed out the key qualities for which the Group received the award: efficiency and effectiveness in their operations; continuous improvement in their services; and above all, their commitment to clients and customers.
